装備の概要

自転車関係：
- サイクロコンピュータ - 自転車の時速と足の回転数が出るもの。
- 水筒 - アルミのを一本。あとは1.5リットルのPETボトルを2つ。PETだと水がくさくならない。
- カバン - オルトリーブ フロントローラ (Ortlieb Front Roller) を２つ、オルトリーブ バックローラ (Ortlieb Back Roller) を２つ、オルトリーブ ラックパック (Ortlieb Rack Pack) の中サイズを1つ。スタッフサック多数（カバンの中を整理するため）。オルトリーブのカバンは完全防水ですので、雨が降っても問題ない。
- ボトルケージ - ３つ。1つはコンロの燃料ボトルの収納用。あと2つは水筒用。
工具：
- 自転車用のマルチツール - 特別加工のTopeak Alien DX。
- 多目的マルチツール - レザーマン チャージ Ti (NiKIRINが提供してくれました。ありがとうございました。）
- 空気入れ - ２つ。一つ目はTopeak Masterblaster Einsteinで、もう1つはBuzzy’s Cross Pollinator（サスペンションとタイヤ兼用）。どうして2つの空気入れを持っていくかといいますと、その答えはロバートの過去にあります。15歳ころに、ニュージーランドの田舎で友達5人で1週間の自転車ツーリングをしたことがります。そのとき、1本の空気入れしか持って行きませんでした。言うまでもありませんが、マーフィー法則が働いて、その1本の空気入れが、ちょうど友達（この人）がパンクをしたろころで動かなくなりました。しょうがなくて、友達はタイヤの内側にわらを積み込み、そのわらの入ったタイヤでおよそ３０ｋｍ走りました。そのとき以来、絶対に予備の空気入れを持っていくことにしています。ですね。
- レンチ - ハンドルに穴が空いていますので、普通より軽い。また、小さいレンチの調節ホイールを削れば、若干広く開けます。
- コッタレス抜き
- スプロケット外し - 軽量化のため、ハンドルを短くし、穴を空けました。
- ボトムブラケット取り付け工具 - レンチがこれにはめるように、レンチを削りました。
- ハブスパナー - ハンドルを取りましょう。使う時にホースバンドでレンチ又はスプトケッと外しのハンドルに取り付ければいい。
- ロックリング回し - スプロケットの取り付け用。

キャンプ道具：
- テント - Kathmandu Northstar Plus. Way too heavy at 3kg, but it’s a solid tent with penty of room to store my gear inside at night.
- マット（携帯布団？） - Thermarest Classic 3/4. There are lighter ones on the market, but this one is very warm and comfy. Chuck your pannier bags under your feet for insulation, and you don’t need a full length sleeping mat.
- 寝袋 - Fairydown Superlight (1,100g) and Fairydown booster bag (650g). Should see me right for down to -20 degrees celcius.
- マットの修理道具 - Including spare valve.
- 寝袋の中に入れるシーツ - Much easier to wash a liner than a whole sleeping bag.
調理道具：
- 携帯コンロ - MSR Whisperlight International. Thanks to Malcolm for lending me his stove for the whole trip. Legendary.
- コンロの風除け - Of course.
- コンロの燃料ボトル - I ummed and erred over the size of this for ages. Finally went for the 650ml bottle because it fits perfectly under the seat of the bike.
- コンロの修理道具 - For stove.
- コッヘル - 1 litre. I get the feeling that this may be a little small…

- スプーン - Spoon with short fork-like prongs at the end.
- 携帯流し（折りたたみ式） - 10L. Folds up small enough to fit into my palm.
- 浄水器 - Katadyn Combi. Kind of heavy, but I guess I’ll appreciate the good tasting water it’ll give me.
- 水用の袋 - Ortlieb 10L. Dunno if I’ll actually have to use this, but I’ll take it along anyway. Chances are that PET bottles will do the trick instead.

洗面用具：
- 歯磨き - Handle cut off to save weight.

- 髭剃り - Head of the shaver only.

- ウール帽子 - Two thin 100% wool beanies. Layering possible.
- 日よけ帽子 - Cotton sun hat.

- ヘルメット - I need to make a sun visor for it.
足
- 自転車用のサンダル - Shimano SPD cycling sandals. Very comfy. Up until Turkey these will be my only footware.
- 靴下 - Two pairs of thick woolen socks and one pair of Gore-Tex waterproof socks. I will wear the waterproof socks if the temperature gets too cold for just sandals and socks.
- 自転車用のブーツ - Shimano SPD Gore-Tex ‘hiking’ cycling boots. I will not carry these on the bike. I am meeting my old Japanese host family in Turkey, so I will get them to bring these with them. I will receive them just in time for the European leg (winter).
手
- 薄いウールの手袋 - New Zealand merino wool.
- 防水厚手の手袋 - Gore-Tex lined.
- No cycling gloves required for a recumbent since there is no pressure on the hands.
上半身
- 防水カッパ - On a recumbent, water tends to flow down the front of the neck, so you need one that you can close tightly around the neck. It also helps to wrap a towel around your neck between the jacket and your neck to absorb any stray drips.
- ウールの上着 - Wool is king. Keeps insulation properties when wet. Merino wool has very high insulation per weight.
- ウィンドブレーカー ジャケット - Not 100% wind proof, but blocks most of the wind and is much more breathable than Gore Windstopper.
- 長袖のシャツ - Two. One for cycling and one for normal civilization. North Face desert shirt has vents at sides of torso, so it catches the wind and directs it into your back. Very light and breezy.

下半身
- 防水長ズボン - Stretchy Gore-Tex.
- 長ズボン - North Face zip-off trousers.

- PDA - Toshiba Genio e550GD （PocketPC２００３ upgrade）
- デジタルカメラ - Canon Powershot A700
- データ記憶 - 20GB Buffalo Direct Station Pocket. Has ports for most digital camera memory cards and backs the card up upon inserting it.
- USB充電器（コンセント用） - Plugs into the wall. You can then plug a USB cord in and charge PDAs and other USB chargeable devices.
- ソーラー充電器 - With USB charging adapter (for PDA etc) and AAA battery adapter. Charges two AA batteries in 14 hours of full sunlight. Would take much longer to charge the PDA battery fully.

- 1GB SD カード - Three. Two for music and one for photos.

- 風邪薬 - These pills are a Japanese concoction, and knock me out for most of the day when I take them.
- 咳止め - For persistant coughs.
- 原虫殺し- ランブル鞭毛虫がお腹に入ってしまったら、えらいことになります。For getting rid of nasties like Giardia that have found their way into my gut.

- 地図入れ（透明で防水）
- 辞書・旅行会話の本 - Mostly in Japanese, as it is easier to pronounce words I haven’t seen before if they are written in Japanese phonetic characters rather than just a jumble of roman letters.
- ピクチャー トーク (Picture Talk by Langenscheidt Publishers社) - この小さい本に絵が書いてあって、その絵に指せば、どんな国に行ってもコミュニケーションができる。らしい。
その他：
- 自転車用の鍵 - 2m. Heavy at 410g, but good insurance against my mode of transport being taken.
- 荷物用の鍵 - 3m. Lightweight but will be handy for keeping my belongings together.
